I just received a (B Stock) Gretsch G9126 Guitar-Ukulele with GigBag from BAX and I can't put the thing down. Over many years I've accumulated quite a few stringed instruments, but this little critter just gets under your skin. I'm playing cord positions differently and moving across the fretboard differently to a 'normal' 6 string. I don't know why it was listed as 'B' stock, I could not see a reason why. You have to do the usual (Nut and Bridge) adjustments to suit, but it is playable straight out of the box. I do recommend dropping the slots in the Nut to theoretical Zero-Fret height though. It really makes first position chords easier and improves intonation. I love the non-gloss, 'open-pore' finish. It really suits the all Mahogany theme; And yes, it is a Solid Top. You can use any set of Classical guitar strings you like on it as it is tuned, ADGCEA (Like normal guitar with capo at the 5th fret). So you can experiment with the different voicings of a vast amount of different style strings. I've just ordered a set of kiddy 1/8th scale guitar strings (Hannabach 890 Series Medium Tension, seem to have the best reputation) to see what EADGBE tuning is like! The only fault is that it is headstock heavy and a strap from head to tail is recommended (You will need to fit an end pin for that) and jut put your head through the strap and hang the Gretsch from your neck. Your right arm can then provide the leverage to give you a free left hand which doesn't have to support the neck.
In summary a very interesting instrument with a good name and finish. Warning: It is addictive.
